I was invited to participate in Designit’s first residency, where we explored how the ethical principle of ‘Do No Harm’ can be applied to design and how it can be put into practice.

We developed a Do No Harm framework for Design. This framework is a practical approach to having a guided dialogue and shared awareness around potential negative consequences on people, the environment, and society. It’s a tool that can be used across the entire design process, from how you define each project, conduct research, and develop an idea, all the way to how you implement a solution or launch a product.

How might we better design and innovate for a more equitable society, while keeping planetary boundaries in mind? By applying Do No Harm principles, we innovate and build better futures while
de-risking unintended consequences.
